I wonder why it's so rarely shown? My fav episode was on last night when Thelma and Naomi were wrestlers. That is so hilarious. ;D

This episode was a GREAT ONE with THE GREAT IMGENE COCO, playing Gert and the man the was Lifesavers Butterscotch man (he married Sophia in Golden Girls) played two people in a retirement home...Gert is about to give up on life...and lo and behold thats where Mama comes in, Thelma refuses to let Gertie just pine away and they now have a birthday party for Gert. My favorite scene is when they are playing musical chairs to "Chariots Of Fire" and no one removes a chair, because as the Nurse says "ITS DANGEROUS" The look on Thelmas face is enough to enjoy this episode......

That is so hilarious. ;D The former Mama's Family board that I was part of discussed this subject. It was rumored that Barbara Stuart, who played the nurse in the episode, sued JHP that she was never payed for portraying the character. It was rumored that she won her case and was given the official rights to the episode, but another rumor was that the master copy of the episode was destroyed in 2002. TBS always skipped this episode, using the "destroyed" excuse when receiving emails and letters about the episode. But since ION began airring Mama last year, it has always shown "Aunt Gert Rides Again." If and when season two gets release on dvd, I sure hope this episode is included.[/size]

Music rights are very expensive and Warner Brothers may not have wanted to pay the high reuse fee. Therefore, they probably just decided to skip the entire episode. I could be wrong, but again it's just a theory.
